Recipe: Bread Maker

The bread maker is excellent for making bread. It has different programs - most bake bread (white, whole wheat, French, etc.), others make jam, pound cake, or knead yeast doughs or simple doughs (for pasta). You can set the bread weight and browning level. In the machine's manual, you'll find both bread recipes and a timing chart for each program.

Plain White Bread

270ml lukewarm water
1 packet dry yeast (7g)
1 teaspoon sugar
450g white flour
1-2 teaspoons salt

  1. Put all ingredients in the given order into the bread maker. Set to program 1 (basic), weight 750g, browning level 2 or 3.
  2. After the first kneading cycle (you'll hear beeps), look inside to see if a ball has formed - then you know the water/flour ratio is good.
  3. Wait for the bread to be done.
