Chicken and Pea Stew
Chicken Vegetables Meat Dishes Vegetable Dishes Romanian
This is a simple and tasty stew that makes many servings with the ingredients below. That was great because it saved me from cooking over the weekend and I could peacefully watch the Oscar-nominated films. I had a favorite film, Slumdog Millionaire, and I was delighted when I heard it won so many awards. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it - it's an impressive and very well-made film.
Ingredients
500 g chicken meat (I used boneless thighs)
1 can of peas, 800 g
1 onion
1 bell pepper
2 level tablespoons flour
250 ml water
1 can of tomatoes, 400 g
a little dill
salt, pepper
Servings: 4
How to prepare chicken and pea stew
- I cut the boneless thighs into 2-3 pieces. I put them in a little oil (2-3 tablespoons), seasoned them with salt and pepper, added a little water and left them on medium heat to braise, covered, for about 30 minutes. When the meat was fully cooked, I removed it from the pot.
- In its place, I added the chopped onion and pepper, a little salt, and let them fry until the vegetables softened well. Add a little more water if needed.
- I added the flour, mixed well, and then started adding water gradually, like making mayonnaise, stirring constantly until I got a white sauce.
- I added the canned tomatoes, mashed with a fork, and pepper, and let everything simmer covered for 10 minutes. Adjust the sauce with salt and pepper.
- I put the meat back into the sauce, then added the drained peas and chopped dill. I turned off the heat, put the lid on the pot and let it sit for 10 minutes so the flavors could blend.
