Vegetable Spiralizer Tool
My latest fun kitchen acquisition. I do not know if you can find it for sale - I have not seen it anywhere - but it can be easily made at home, and mine is handmade. You need a crochet hook, a wire, and a small ring that is welded to the hook. That ring is what cuts the spirals; the wire at the tip just makes it easier to push through the vegetables. I bought the tool in Zadar where a man sat in the middle of the square, doing demonstrations in a sea of women with eyes wide as saucers at the beautiful spirals.
Carrot and cucumber spirals can be used to decorate dishes; potato spirals can be baked or fried.
