Homemade Spiced Coffee
As a big coffee lover, I discovered a simple method to flavor my own coffee: by adding the desired spice (e.g., cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg - ground) or even a mix of spices to the coffee. For about 3 tablespoons of ground coffee, I add 1/2 teaspoon of spices. Then I prepare the coffee as usual (drip, espresso machine, or even in a Turkish coffee pot).
If you have whole spices (e.g., vanilla beans or cinnamon sticks), grind them in a coffee grinder together with the coffee and store in airtight containers.
However, if you want a more subtle flavor, put the spices (vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, coriander or cardamom pods) in the container with ground coffee and let them sit for a few weeks to absorb the aroma.
Normally I drink my coffee "black" (no sugar, no milk), but when I flavor it I add a little condensed milk.
