Dough Piglets
Dough Fasting Recipes Recipes for Kids
This is how I played a few days ago with a simple bread dough. I saw a photo of them online and immediately thought they would make a good "cake" for my brother's birthday. I like making funny gifts like this - they always have a bigger effect than a classic cake. Anyway, my piglets cheered everyone up... I hope they cheer you up too.
From the leftover dough I made two bunnies, since Easter is coming!
Ingredients
Dough (you can use another type of dough too)
270 ml warm water
1 packet dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
450 g all-purpose flour
1-2 teaspoons salt
Other...
peppercorns
rosemary leaves
Yield: 10 piglets + 2 bunnies
How to prepare dough piglets
- Knead an elastic dough from the dough ingredients. You can use a bread machine.
- Roll out a thin sheet.
- Cut out the piglets' heads with a glass (large circles).
- Cut out the nose and ears with a plastic bottle cap (small circles).
- For the nose: take small circles, make two little grooves with a sharp knife and place a rosemary leaf in each.
- For the ears: cut small circles into quarters.
- Assembly: on a large circle, place the nose and ears (one quarter circle for each ear) as shown in the photos. To help them stick better, moisten the areas where you attach them with a little water. Place peppercorns as eyes.
- From the rest of the dough I made two bunnies shaped as shown in the photo.
- Place the piglets and bunnies assembled like this on a baking sheet and bake at 220°C for 15 minutes.
* I brushed the bunnies and 2 piglets with egg yolk but I didn't like it, I think I need to give up this habit and only brush the dough with oil. The most successful piglets weren't brushed with anything.
