Agua de Valencia
Anca S. sent me this recipe with the following description: "In Spain, this cocktail is drunk during summer because while it gets you tipsy, it refreshes you... Or vice versa." Tempting, isn't it?
Ingredients
700 ml semi-dry sparkling wine (champagne)
250 ml orange juice (from 4 oranges)
50 ml gin
50 ml orange liqueur (Cointreau)
50 ml vodka (I don't add it)
sugar to taste (optional; I don't add it)
How to prepare agua de valencia
- Squeeze the oranges into a glass pitcher. Pour the sparkling wine over the juice.
- Add the gin, orange liqueur and vodka (for those who want a stronger cocktail). If desired, add a little sugar.
- Put the pitcher in the refrigerator until the mixture is chilled.
- Serve either with ice cubes or in frosted glasses (wet the glasses and put them in the freezer until a thin layer of ice forms on them).
