Food Dehydrator
I recently discovered the food dehydrator at my friend Alina's place, who supplies me with organic honey. A few months ago, she even won 2nd place at the outdoor cooking competition in Cluj-Napoca, presenting platters of dried fruits that were admired by Robert Rainford, Dan Chisu, and other renowned chefs from Romania who formed the jury. At first, I was attracted to the idea of making homemade vegetable seasoning with it, but then I discovered that the dried fruits are by far much better than store-bought ones. My favorites are dried plums and cantaloupe - Radu and I even fought over them 😊
Drying is one of the best preservation methods because the fruits retain all their vitamins, as drying is done at low temperatures. This way you can buy organic fruits and vegetables from farmers when they're in season, dry them, and store them in airtight jars for a long time.
You can dry any vegetables and herbs to make homemade vegetable seasoning, homemade paprika, tomato leather, dried spices for winter, etc.
You can also simply dry fruit slices or dry fruit pulp to make fruit leather. The dried fruits can be used in baked goods, with cereal flakes and milk in the morning (create your own fruit muesli), or you can eat them as is, as a snack between meals.
This is an electric appliance that dries quickly and cleanly, has 5 power settings, and can dry fruits, vegetables, herbs, medicinal plants, spices, pollen, etc. It has a maximum power of 500W or 1000W (depending on the model). It comes from the factory with 5 stacked trays (expandable up to 15 levels), a flexible mesh screen, a flat tray, and a lid.
