Recipe: Lemon Thyme

Lemon thyme alert at Metro! Lemon thyme (Thymus citriodorus) looks like regular thyme, but the moment you tear off a leaf you'll notice how the fine thyme aroma is doubled by another very fresh one: lemon zest.

It's a very aromatic plant - you only need a few leaves to flavor your food in a way you'll become addicted to. More specifically, how can you use this herb? It's great on any meat (fish, chicken, pork chop/tenderloin, lamb), on potatoes (including in mash), in sauces (for example mushrooms in white sauce), to infuse vinegar and oil, it's even good in desserts (sorbet, lemonade, in apple filling for pies/tarts, cookies, to infuse cream or sugar syrup).

It's a plant that every foodie should have in a pot. And look at it - it looks beautiful as an ornamental plant too 😊 Lemon thyme should be kept in bright areas, but not in direct sunlight - in a shaded spot, and should be watered moderately.
