Recipe: Caramelized Grapefruit

I made this for Sunday breakfast, it was a big hit, and at noon I repeated it.

Ingredients

1 grapefruit
2 teaspoons butter
6 teaspoons sugar
a little cinnamon (in summer you can substitute with mint)

Servings: 2

How to prepare caramelized grapefruit

  1. Cut the grapefruit in half. With a sharp knife, carefully cut the flesh away from the peel without damaging the peel, then remove the flesh.
  2. Cut the flesh into slices and remove the white membranes.
  3. Mix the melted butter with sugar and cinnamon. Add the grapefruit slices and toss.
  4. Put the flesh back into the peel and bake under the grill for 10 minutes, until you see the sugar bubbling and turning slightly darker.
  5. Serve warm or cold. In summer, you can serve it cold with ice cream on top.
