Fajitas with Ground Meat
Mexican Mexican Meat Dishes Meat Dishes
Simplified version for fajitas. It turns out cheaper and more accessible with ground meat. And if you already have the spicy sauce prepared, the rest is easy-peasy. It becomes a recipe suitable for busy weekdays.
Ingredients
200g ground beef (or beef-pork mix)
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
1/2 medium onion
2 teaspoons adobo seasoning
approx. 3 tablespoons adobo sauce
approx. 2 tablespoons sour cream (fermented)
2 Lebanese flatbreads (or tortilla wraps if you like them)
1 tablespoon oil
Servings: 2
How to prepare fajitas with ground meat
- Heat a wide pan of approx. 28 cm. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and then the peppers cut julienne (I used kapia) and the onion cut into thin slices. Sprinkle with a little salt. Sauté quickly over high heat until the onion browns in places. Stir often, like Chinese stir-fry. You can even use a wok instead of a pan. The idea is that the vegetables should brown lightly on the outside but remain still crunchy, so the cooking time will be short, about 3 minutes.
- Remove the vegetables from the pan.
- Add the ground meat to the pan. If the pan is not non-stick, help with a little oil so it does not stick. Sauté it also quickly, over medium heat, stirring more at the beginning so the pieces break apart. When almost all the meat has changed color, add the adobo seasoning and stir. Continue to fry the meat, this time stirring less often so it has time to brown a bit. It takes just a little while, another 3-4 minutes.
* if you prepare a larger amount of meat, fry it in batches, do not crowd it because it will not brown, it will release a lot of juice and will look boiled - Divide the meat between the two flatbreads (I prefer Lebanese flatbreads because tortilla wraps have a texture and smell that I do not like at all). Divide the sautéed vegetables on top. Then drizzle Mexican spicy sauce (adobo) and sour cream (stir it well beforehand so it softens) as much as you like of each. Roll tightly and serve. Add a green salad on the side 😉
