You may know that it's not ideal to wash a wooden cutting board with detergent because the wood absorbs the chemicals and they will end up on the next food you cut on it.

Therefore, the safest method to clean and sanitize it, especially after cutting meat on it, is to wet it and scrub with a rough sponge without detergent to remove all large bits of residue. Then rub the wooden board well with a slice of lemon. Lemon has a degreasing effect and also disinfects. Finally, sprinkle salt and scrub again with the sponge. Salt has a disinfecting effect and is abrasive.
