Matcha or green tea powder is a concentrated green tea that comes from Japan. One cup of Matcha tea is 10 times more concentrated than tea made from green tea leaves. It's now also used in cooking, especially for preparing desserts, pasta sauces, and shakes.
"Tea used in the tea ceremony in Japan. Matcha is obtained by drying the leaves, then grinding them with stone mills into a green powder, soluble in water. This tea powder is light green in color with pale reflections. To prepare it, put 1 gram in a cup of water at 60 degrees and stir with a stick until a green, translucent foam appears. The resulting drink, quite dark in color and especially strong in theine, is slightly bitter, with a fresh aroma reminiscent of moist forest vegetation. It is extremely healthy, has antioxidant properties and prevents colon or stomach cancer." Wikipedia
Tea powder is harder to find, usually in Japanese stores and specialized tea shops, and is quite expensive.

How to prepare matcha latte
- Break the chocolate into pieces and add the milk over it. Microwave until the chocolate is melted. Mix well to combine. Using a milk frother, beat the milk with chocolate until foamy.
- Boil the water. Put the green tea powder in a small cup and add a little boiled water over it. Mix well until you get a paste in which the powder has dissolved very well. Add the rest of the water and mix. Using a milk frother, beat the matcha.
- In the serving glass, pour the matcha foam first, then slowly pour the milk and chocolate foam. The green foam will stay on top. Decorate with whipped cream. Serve warm.
