Spicy Walnuts
Christmas Recipes Quick Recipes Simple Recipes Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian Recipes Snacks
I've noticed there are many walnut lovers on the site, so I'm proposing this recipe for a healthy holiday snack. The idea is simple: use whipped egg white to make different spices stick to the walnuts. The spices are your choice!
This time I made the salty-spicy version, but you can also make a sweet version: beat the egg whites with sugar and then season with cinnamon and a little pepper if you want them sweet-spicy. This version would fit even better with the holidays. Or you can make a mixed nuts batch: almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, cashews, walnuts, and season them this way.
Any of the above versions also makes a great gift in my opinion - you can package the nuts in a nice box or a colorful gift bag with a Christmas theme and give them to your loved ones.
Ingredients
200 g walnut kernels
1 egg white
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon hot paprika
How to prepare spicy walnuts
- Beat the egg white until foamy.
- Mix the spices. Add them to the egg foam. Mix well.
- Add the walnuts to the foam and mix until each kernel is well coated.
- Arrange the walnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer - don't overlap them.
- Bake at 160°C for approximately 25 minutes. Stir the walnuts every 5-10 minutes so they don't burn and the egg white dries on both sides.
