Fennel Seeds Guide
Fennel seeds can be found in health food stores or spice specialty shops. For those who don't have such stores nearby, you might find them more easily at supermarkets. I've recently seen them at Cora and Auchan. They're from Fuchs, a box has 30 g.
They can be used whole or ground. To grind them, I use a coffee grinder, but be careful, their intense smell lingers in the machine for a while (same as cumin). So after cleaning it thoroughly, it's advisable to grind some rice and a few coffee beans to eliminate the smell.
They have an anise-like aroma, but more delicate. They're very healthy, helping with bloating, colic, menopause or PMS, and have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.
