Potato Gratin with Goat Cheese
Christmas Recipes Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian Recipes Potatoes Cheese Side Dishes Oven Recipes
The last potato gratin variation for this year, I promise 😉 But I was craving something with goat cheese and since I had requests for French potatoes I decided to combine them.
Ingredients
6 starchy potatoes (1kg)
350g heavy cream (for cooking; 15% fat)
100g goat cheese (aged)
1 egg
1 tablespoon butter (30g)
1 clove garlic
2 sprigs thyme
1 pinch nutmeg (preferably freshly grated)
salt, pepper
Servings: 4-5
Prep time: 1 hour and 15 minutes
How to prepare potato gratin with goat cheese
- Rub the butter with the crushed garlic. Grease a heat-resistant dish (15 x 23 cm) with a generous layer of the flavored butter.
- Cut the potatoes into thin rounds (like for chips).
- Blend the egg with cream, goat cheese and nutmeg in a blender.
- Arrange a layer of potatoes in the dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste (I add more pepper because I like it spicy at the end). Sprinkle some chopped thyme as well. Continue layering until you finish the potatoes. The last layer should be potatoes sprinkled only with salt.
* I forgot to put thyme between the layers, so in the end I placed the sprigs on the edge - Distribute the remaining butter on top.
- Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes until they are covered.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 180°C for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes, still at 180°C, until the potatoes are done.
* if you want, you can sprinkle some grated parmesan on top - Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
