Salt-Baked Chicken Legs
Chicken Quick Recipes Simple Recipes Meat Dishes Oven Recipes
There's not much to tell about this recipe - it's simple, the title says it all... but I have a cute story about me and chicken drumsticks. Back in the day, I think I was in elementary school, my mom would send me to buy "lower legs" (drumsticks in Romanian). Day after day, until I finally asked the question that had been bothering me for a while: didn't we have enough money, at least once in a while, for some "upper legs" - why do you always make me buy these "lower" ones!?
Ingredients
6 chicken drumsticks
1 tablespoon olive oil
pepper, paprika (or turmeric)
2 cups coarse salt
How to prepare salt-baked chicken legs
- Line the oven tray with parchment paper. Pour the coarse salt on top and level it.
- Wash and dry the chicken legs well, then drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with pepper and paprika (or turmeric) plus any other seasoning you want - just don't add salt. Massage the legs until well coated with the seasonings.
- Place the legs on the salt. If desired, you can add potato slices between them (I didn't season them with anything).
- Bake at 250C (480F) for 45 minutes. Serve immediately. If the legs or potatoes have stuck slightly to the salt, use a knife to scrape the salt off.
