Spicy Tofu

Simple and spicy just how I like it. For a buffet, stick toothpicks in the cubes and you'll see how quickly they disappear.
Ingredients
250g tofu
2 garlic cloves
3 green onion stalks
1 red hot pepper
1 pinch ground ginger
1-2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
oil for frying
How to prepare spicy tofu
- If the tofu is in brine, drain it well, place it between paper towels with a weight on top and leave it in the refrigerator for a few hours (or even overnight). Then cut into cubes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu on all sides until it develops a golden, crispy crust. Remove onto paper towels to absorb excess grease.
- In a small saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and saute the crushed garlic cloves for about 30 seconds. Add the green onion and hot pepper cut into rounds and saute everything for another 30 seconds.
- Season with ginger and deglaze with soy sauce. Immediately add the tofu cubes. Stir until the tofu absorbs the sauce.
- Add the sesame oil and mix well.
- Transfer to a small plate.
- Can be served plain as an appetizer or with boiled rice as a main course.
