A classic two-tone marble cake to brighten up the morning.
Ingredients
4 eggs
250g sugar
1 packet vanilla sugar
250ml milk
250ml oil
350g all-purpose flour
1/2 packet baking powder
1/2 orange (or lemon)
1 heaping tablespoon cocoa
50g dark chocolate
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1-2 tablespoons rum
How to prepare two-tone marble cake
- With a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar until completely dissolved.
- Continue mixing and add the grated orange zest, milk, and then the oil.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and add it to the batter, mixing slowly at first.
- Pour the batter into a measuring cup (I got 1.2 liters of batter). Divide it equally into two bowls (600ml in each).
- The batter in one bowl stays white. To the other batter, add the cocoa, chocolate previously melted over steam, and the coffee dissolved in rum. Mix until smooth.
* if you don't have chocolate, you can use just 2 tablespoons of cocoa for the dark batter - Grease a round pan (23 cm diameter) with oil or butter and dust it with flour.
* I used a 20 cm diameter pan and had leftover batter which I baked in muffin forms - Put 3 tablespoons of white batter in the center of the pan. Then put 3 tablespoons of dark batter in the center of the white batter. Continue adding batter this way until you finish the white batter. You'll get concentric circles that will thin out as you add more batter.
- Bake at 180°C for 50 minutes. Do the toothpick test and if it comes out clean, it's done.
- Let it cool, then slice into 8 pieces.
