Bake Rolls - Homemade Bread Chips
Budget Recipes Oven Recipes Snacks
What you can make from a piece of stale baguette! Bread chips are great when you feel like munching on something, maybe with a beer. Or you can use them as croutons for cream soups. And you'll realize they're much tastier than store-bought ones. And if you have too many, you can grind them and get breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
1-2 day old baguette
extra virgin olive oil
salt, pepper, chili flakes
How to prepare bake rolls - homemade bread chips
- Bake rolls turn out best if you use a baguette with dense, rustic crumb, not the soft and fluffy kind. I used a multigrain baguette here. Cut the baguette into extra thin slices (2-3 mm).
- Brush the bread slices with oil. For this, the most convenient is to use an oil spray and just spray the oil on both sides of the slices. This way the amount of oil used will be minimal and evenly distributed. If you don't have such a spray, just brush the slices on both sides using a silicone brush.
- Arrange the slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt (fleur de sel), ground pepper, and chili flakes (you can add other seasonings too, for example granulated garlic).
- Bake at 150°C for 10 minutes. For long-term storage, keep in a jar or container with a lid.
