You can make cabbage salad all summer long, while the cabbage is new and tender. It is cheap and healthy. It is the right salad for many dishes, including hamburgers. If it is kneaded a bit and well seasoned, cabbage salad becomes the queen of the table. So make plenty - there will be great demand.
Ingredients
1 small new cabbage (about 700g)
1 carrot
4 dill sprigs
1 teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper
Dressing
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon celery seeds (optional, but recommended)

How to prepare simple cabbage salad
- Cut the cabbage into fine shreds using a knife or a grater. Sprinkle with salt and knead a bit to soften it. Let it sit while you do the next steps.
- Grate the carrot on the large holes of a grater. Finely chop the dill.
- Prepare the dressing: whisk the vinegar with oil until it becomes an emulsion. Add the sugar and mix until dissolved. Add the celery seeds.
- Add the carrot and dill to the cabbage, sprinkle with ground black pepper. Mix gently. Pour the dressing and mix again.
- Let the cabbage salad sit for 5-10 minutes, then serve.
