Beer Can Chicken with Aromatic Herbs
Chicken Simple Recipes Meat Dishes
Beer can chicken is a good solution if you don't have a grill in your oven. And even if you do, I say it's still a better option because it doesn't make such a mess in the oven 😉 I took an idea from the Americans and replaced the regular bottle with a beer can filled with herbs. It turns out wonderfully, you'll see! Especially if you stuff it with herbs and lots of seasonings!
Ingredients
1 whole chicken for grilling
a few sprigs of rosemary
a few sprigs of thyme
2 sprigs of parsley
2 bay leaves
1 can of beer
salt, pepper, paprika, turmeric
a little oil
How to prepare beer can chicken with aromatic herbs
- Cut the top of the beer can with a can opener. Empty it halfway. Insert into the beer rosemary, thyme, parsley and bay leaves.
- Make a spice mixture of salt, pepper, plenty of paprika and a little turmeric. You can also use ready-made store-bought seasonings... your choice. Rub the whole chicken with a little oil and then with the seasonings including inside and under the skin on the breast. Under the skin on the breast also insert a few sprigs of thyme and rosemary.
- Place the chicken on the beer can as in the photo below, it will balance without problems.
- In the oven tray put a layer of salt (to absorb the fat dripping from the chicken and prevent it from burning) or simply put parchment paper. Place the can with the chicken on it and put in the oven (mine went on the lowest level) at 180°C for the first half hour and then at 200°C for another 1 hour (the time also depends on the size of the chicken, mine was 1.3 kg). The chicken is done when you poke it with a fork and only clear juice runs out.
- Serve with whatever side dish you want or like us just with a glass of wine.
