Recipe: Baked Feta Cheese with Tomatoes

The simplest bouyourdi - you barely need a recipe. Just layer everything and bake. This is what I spoiled everyone with who visited me last week. They were so disappointed when they found out it wasn't posted on the site that I promised them they'd find it here today.

Ingredients

150 g feta cheese (sheep's or goat's milk; choose a crumbly, not too salty variety)
1 small tomato
1 small semi-hot Bulgarian pepper
2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
dried oregano

Servings: 2

How to prepare baked feta cheese with tomatoes

  1. In a shallow oven-proof dish, scatter the crumbled cheese (don't worry about making it too fine) to create a layer covering the bottom of the dish.
  2. Scatter the diced pepper (cleaned of seeds and stem beforehand).
  3. Score the tomato with an X, blanch for 15 seconds, then peel. Cut into rounds and quarter each round. Arrange the tomato pieces over the cheese, without completely covering it.
  4. Sprinkle with oregano and drizzle oil over the entire surface.
  5. Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes. Serve immediately with fresh bread.
