Recipe: Garlic Toast

I managed wonderfully with last night's dinner, even though I got home late. I quickly prepared the crunchy bread, bought some beers and that was it! Everyone (meaning Radu 😉 ) was satisfied.

Ingredients

1 small flat bread (like ciabatta)
2 cloves garlic
3 tablespoons butter at room temperature
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
5 sprigs parsley
salt

Servings: 3-4

How to prepare garlic toast

  1. Rub the butter with oil until it becomes a soft paste. Add the crushed garlic, chopped parsley, oregano, and salt and mix well.
  2. Split the bread in half and spread each part with a generous layer of flavored butter.
  3. Place the bread pieces in a baking tray with the buttered side up and bake at 250C for 10 minutes, until the bread browns slightly on the edge, just on the crust.
  4. Then turn on the broiler (heat coming from above) and leave for about 2-3 minutes until the slices brown nicely on top. Watch the bread during this time so it does not burn.
  5. After they cool down a bit, cut the bread crosswise into slices about 2 fingers thick. Serve immediately while crispy or store in a paper bag where they will soften. They can be served plain as a snack or alongside any dish that calls for toasted bread.
