Recipe: Chili Sauce

Although you can find it in stores, as you already know, I prefer to make most ingredients at home, this way I avoid consuming food preservatives.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons oil
3 level tablespoons flour
1 packet chili powder (15g)
1 level teaspoon granulated garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

How to prepare chili sauce

  1. Heat the oil and add the flour. Stir well over low heat until the flour absorbs the oil and becomes paste-like.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, then start adding 2 cups of hot water, little by little, at first like adding oil to mayonnaise. Whisk to prevent lumps. Once the mixture thins out, you can pour the water faster.
  3. After adding all the water, turn the heat to medium and simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly, becoming about the consistency of whipping cream. Let it cool and pour the sauce into a bottle. Store in the refrigerator.
