I thank the visitors who brought this refreshing Turkish yogurt drink to my attention. Although it was fatal to my blender, the drink is very delicious and healthy.
To be honest, it wasn't the drink's fault, but my own carelessness. When will I learn not to do a thousand things at once?! While making the yogurt I was also watching some bread, making a salad, and I forgot the spoon I used to empty the yogurt into the blender!!! It ended with sparks and lots of yogurt on the walls, but fortunately not all of it, some made it into our glasses. Obviously after cleaning the kitchen, which, in the end, made us appreciate the refreshing qualities of ayran even more. Moral of the day: always see the bright side of things.
Ingredients
500g cold full-fat yogurt
1/2 cup cold water
3-4 mint leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cumin
ice cubes
How to prepare ayran
- Put everything except the ice in a blender. Mix well for 1 minute until foam forms on top.
- Put ice cubes in glasses and pour the yogurt, making sure there is plenty of foam on top. Serve immediately with herb flatbread, potato and zucchini tart, or alongside kebab.
