How to prepare peas with new potatoes and carrots
- Sauté the finely chopped onion in oil for about 5 minutes, just until it softens a bit. Add the grated tomatoes, bay leaf, cinnamon, and cloves and sauté everything for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the potatoes cut into cubes and the carrots halved lengthwise. Add water almost to cover everything (about 300ml), salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. Simmer covered, on medium-low heat, for 20 minutes.
- Add the peas and chopped dill and simmer covered for another 15 minutes. Check that the peas are cooked but not soft.
- Remove the lid and if the sauce hasn't reduced enough, cook for 5 more minutes. Serve with country bread.
