Recipe: Salt-Baked Potatoes

Simple, perfectly salted, and filling the house with an amazing aroma - it felt like I was back at grandma's, who used to bake potatoes in the wood-fired oven. You have to try them; at this small size, they won't be gummy in the center like larger potatoes often are.

Ingredients

small potatoes (ping-pong ball sized)
coarse salt

How to prepare salt-baked potatoes

  1. Spread a thin layer of salt in a baking pan.
  2. Scrub the potatoes well with a rough sponge, then dry them with paper towels.
  3. Place the potatoes on the salt and cover them completely with another layer of salt.
  4. Bake at 250°C (480°F) for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from the salt, brush off the salt crust from the top (it comes off easily), and serve immediately (plain or with butter). No need to add more salt - they absorb enough while baking.
